As an acrobat Alex learned the do’s & don’ts of mobility and flexibility the hard way, often bearing the brunt of poor advice & outmoded training methods on her own body.
As an international-level strength athlete herself, she has a unique understanding of what athletes need to become more mobile & flexible, move more efficiently on and off the pitch, track or field, become stronger & more powerful, and ultimately avoid injury and increase performance, whatever your sport.
Alex’s talk will cover the fundamentals on mobility and flexibility and mobility for strength & power athletes; how and when to roll and stretch; as well as some targeted drills and exercises for common problem areas including hip, shoulder and thoracic mobility.

Cathal’s talk will focus of his own history training and competing internationally, sharing experiences and insights from the training halls and warm-up areas of world & European Championships.
He will cover the requirements, as he sees it, for maximising results for the athlete that aspires to be the best but have to balance that with work and college commitments.

He qualified as a weightlifting coach in 2003 and his first international coaching assignment was in 2005, when he was appointed as Head Coach to the Irish team of athletes at the European Promotions Cup in Udine, Italy.
