Capital Strength have teamed up with experienced Osteopath Sacha Pakkiri and his colleague Brien Kinsella to create a unique service where coaches and therapist can assess and treat athletes in situ while they are actively doing weightlifting movements
The concept is to form an integrated approach between therapists and coaches to treat any pain or dysfunction that lifters might have which is limiting their potential. In practice this means that anyone who is injured or who has been identified as having potential movement vulnerabilities may be assessed at a drop-in clinic by one of these 2 qualified osteopaths to see if alignment is a contributing factor, or be assessed in position while doing any of the problematic movements or lifts. This is the only service of its kind in the country where an athlete may perform the weightlifting movement while being observed and palpated by the therapist, receive treatment in the adjoining space and then have the movement re-checked for any change. Coaches may then liase with therapists to make exercise prescriptions or adjustments as necessary.
Clinics will run twice a month on Wednesday evenings in Capital Strength Weightlifting Club with limited availability. The cost per session is just €40 for members or direct referrals. Please see our Calendar or Facebook page to find out when the next clinic is running.
